About Us
Bryan & Bobby started in 2005, the brainwave of Senior Constable Bryan Ward who at the time was the Police Education officer for the Otahuhu Area.
“I wanted something that was fun and also spoke to the kids in their own language, that I could use in a classroom and that kids could use with their parents” says Bryan, and following a short tour of the Waikato and a chance meeting with Suzy Cato a plan was hatched. 11 years later here just some of the achievements that Bryan and Bobby have achieved to promote safety (and fun) to kids around New Zealand…and Australia too :0) .
- Visited over 1.4 million kids in live shows at school assemblies from Houhoura to Invercargill
- Filmed 76 episodes/3 series of the Bryan & Bobby show
- Weekly radio shows
Named ambassadors for NZ Blue Light, Variety the Children’s charity, South Auckland Health Foundation and NZ Pink Shirt Day - Key note speakers at the NSW Police Bluelight conference
- Visited hundreds of school for the Books in Homes programme
- Attended 8 Variety Bashes/Trillian Treks around New Zealand
- Spearheaded the nationwide campaign for Operation SNAP (serial number recording) throughout NZ schools on the behalf of the NZ Police.
- Been part of every Police open day since inception
“We have as much fun as the kids and at the end of the day if even one child makes a good choice because of the fun way we deliver community safety messages, then we know that Prevention First is happening at the absolute grass-root level”, says Bryan. “While everyone in New Zealand has the right to be safe and feel safe nobody is owed that right more than our tamariki. It is flattering that people think Bryan & Bobby is our fulltime role (it isn’t) but we will always do our best to ensure that kids in New Zealand are having fun and are being empowered by safety messages whenever we get the chance.”
As always we couldn’t have done any of this without some wonderful people and supporters… Aroha to Jimi, P and T and to all of the families who get the importance of our message. Suzy C and family for being part of this journey with us, to all the wonderful cast, crew and stars that have appeared in all media with us; Supt Bruce Bird, Commissioner Mike Bush, Asst Commissioner Bill Searle and the NZ Police whanau… but most of important a big thanks to the kids of NZ for having fun with us…
